Educational Praxis

Educational Praxis brings people of diverse communities together to learn about the world, building connection and solidarity. Our activities promote critical reflection, economic equity and security, ecological consciousness, cultural groundings and creative action for the purpose of addressing the schisms of class, race, caste and gender.

OUR PROJECTS

Educational Praxis organizes projects that engage people in learning and acting to change the world.

Spark Teacher Education Institute

Spark Teacher Education Institute offers teaching licensure for grades K-12 under the Vermont Department of Education. Participants work side-by-side for an entire year with a skilled mentor teacher. In Spark seminars students learn to integrate social justice and equity content into the curriculum. Teach for social justice!

Indigo Institute

The Indigo Institute involves the Praxis community in continued study and inquiry, creating learning experiences for schools, universities, and community organizations. Seminars and learning sessions engage participants in reflection and action on their work within the context of social justice.

Indigo Radio

Indigo Radio is a weekly radio program on the Brattleboro Community Radio Station WVEW 107.7FM. It is organized by a group of educators who seek to learn by engaging with others in the community and the world. The show covers educational, economic, political and social issues both global and local. It seeks to connect issues both to our lives and to the Brattleboro community.

Praxis Educational Theater

Praxis Educational Theater is in the tradition of liberation theater as practiced around the world. We perform on the street, at demonstrations, workshops and conferences. The content of the performances are the culmination of weeks, sometimes months, of study and discussion. Our politics are both revealed and transformed through this Praxis.

Praxis Sojourns

Educational Praxis organizes travel to learn and participate in solidarity with groups and institutions in different parts of the world. We have traveled to India, Mexico, Philippines, and East Africa. By sojourning together we are able to deepen our understanding as we build connections with each other and the world.

Bapagrama School Educational Center

Praxis works with Bapagrama School, located in a peri-urban village outside of Bangalore, India, as a site for learning and teaching. Visitors to Bapagrama learn from the struggles of the poorest in the village community, learning from and contributing to local educational activities while exploring linkages among struggles globally.
